Wally Rodriguez is President and Director of Visual Effects at Upstairs, a high-end post-production studio in Miami, Florida. Upstairs' clients include American Airlines, Ford, Anheuser-Busch, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, Alma DDB, Zubi Advertising and various other multi-national agencies.
Concentrating on visual effects and compositing, Wally is a master of FLAME, the premiere digital manipulation device of computer graphics. He was one of the first clients worldwide to take delivery of the innovative system and continues to be instrumental in its development.
With over twenty-five years of experience, Wally’s hard work and perseverance has been recognized along the way. He has been the recipient of an Emmy award and various Telly, Addy and PROMAX awards. He is one of the founders of Upstairs where he engineered the company’s recent move to a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility.
A respected expert in the world of High Definition video and an accomplished engineer, Wally has been involved in a myriad of projects from the Asmat Museum in Irian Jaya, Indonesia where visitors to the famous Erstberg mine are taught about the history and talents of the local Asmat Indians, to the production of an Emmy Award-winning documentary about rain forest preservation.
During his career, Wally has taught seminars on Computer Graphics, Special Effects, HD video production and post-production and most recently, a seminar on new media tools.
A graduate of the prestigious Loyola University in New Orleans with a major in Communications minors in computer science and graphic arts, Wally aspires to continue expanding his knowledge of cinematography and special effects for film.
